Story

Uganda, home to over 15 million students across various educational levels, faced an unprecedented challenge during the COVID-19 pandemic. With schools closed for two academic years—longer than any other country in the world—the existing learning poverty worsened, especially among rural and underserved students who lacked access to online resources and educational technologies.

Teach For Uganda (TFU) responded to this crisis with an innovative pilot program that integrated education technologies into schools. By equipping 20 out of 86 schools with tablets, projectors, and portable speakers, TFU empowered teachers to engage students through diverse learning modalities, including audio and visual aids. This initiative not only facilitated inclusive education but also promoted self-learning through a gaming application that helped students develop literacy and numeracy skills.

The Current Need: Expanding the Reach

Building on this success, the Teach For Uganda Alumni Association (Unison Leaders Association) is launching a campaign to expand this transformative program. Our goal is to raise funds to provide 50 additional schools with the necessary technology, including computer tablets, projectors, and portable speakers. By doing so, we aim to enhance blended learning and support students with diverse learning needs.

Our Vision

We envision a future where every student, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to thrive in an engaging and supportive learning environment. To achieve this, we will:

- Improve Learning Experiences: Equip 50 schools with audio, visual, and tablet technologies, benefiting 2,000 students by December 2024.
- Empower Teachers: Train 100 teachers (60 TFU Fellows and 40 system teachers) in lesson development and delivery using educational technologies.
- Foster Self-Learning: Set up an online learning hub for teachers to access content for lesson planning and delivery, maximizing the learning potential of their students.

Join Us in Making a Difference

By supporting this campaign, you will play a crucial role in bridging the educational divide in Uganda. Your contribution will help us provide essential technology to schools, train teachers, and create a sustainable model for blended learning that can be replicated across the country.

Together, we can empower Ugandan students with the tools they need to succeed, regardless of the challenges they face. Join us in transforming education and unlocking the potential of every learner. Your support can make a lasting impact on the future of Uganda's youth.
