From difficulty in holding a bottle of milk to representing Singapore’s football team, this man is better than normal

A 90 seconds delay of oxygen during birth is the reason Hitesh Ramchandani is suffering from Cerebral Palsy – a group of disorders that affect a person’s ability to move and maintain balance and posture. A doctor’s mistake 30 years back might have led Hitesh to remain dependent on others for his survival and live a dark and gloomy life.

We are in 2022, and today Hitesh is a renowned motivational speaker, a member of Singapore’s Paralympic football team, a blogger, and the proud author of the book titled “Better Than Normal”, a title that suits his personality.

Hitesh continues to inspire many and speaks as a motivational speaker at many events. “Success does not come overnight! It took me five years of hard work to get a keynote booking in one of the biggest companies in the world- Google!” Hitesh describes this in one of his posts.

Against all odds

Hitesh had a challenging childhood in which he struggled with everyday activities, including speaking, playing, integrating into society, etc. From the beginning, he knew he was not like the normal children out there. One fine day, he went to ask his father why he couldn’t be just like the other kids.

His father’s words hit Hitesh hard. His father told him that he was suffering from hard work and sheer dedication, and if he could get rid of this, he (Hitesh) will be able to do better than normal kids. Although having a loving family was advantageous for him, he still had to face the world alone, develop his strength, and accomplish his objectives.

“Due to my disability – Cerebral Palsy, I had a lot of physical limitations growing up & which reflected on my academics too. I was slower compared to my peers. My teachers recommended me to study in a special school, as they felt I would not cope with the normal education system. But, today, I have a best-seller book, and I am the founder of the biggest Physiotherapy clinic in India, BTN Physio & Diagnostic Hub,” Hitesh said

A walk through some of his achievements

The South-East Asia Excellence Awards-Special Mention of Outstanding Achievements was given to him in recognition of his outstanding contribution as a role model for young people worldwide.

In addition, Hitesh has received certification as a Jack Canfield Success Principles Trainer. He frequently appears on national and international TV, radio, and magazines with a goal of inspiring 50 million people by the year 2050!

Despite having cerebral palsy, Hitesh has touched and won the hearts of more than 3 million people from more than 32 different nationalities. He has given keynote addresses at Microsoft, TATA Steel, Prudential, Great Eastern, Buhler, and Deutsche Bank. He is consistently named one of the greatest inspirational speakers at every event.

Hitesh’s journey may inspire many

Even though persons with disabilities face numerous obstacles in terms of attitudes and inclusion, many are prevented from becoming financially independent by a lack of access to high-quality education and jobs.

However, Hitesh’s story is not a story to sell but the story to tell that if you have the courage, determination to fight against the odds and a will to challenge your own abilities, you will be better than normal.
