My experience as a tutor has opened my eyes to so many things. The job of the teacher is one with no bounds. You have no idea when you step into the shoes of a mom or when you become the friend they can confide in or the councillor, or playmate and so on. My advise to those interested in this field has always been, find a way to make everything about the learners, when you do that every part of your consciousness begins to align and find ways to exhaust the item of focus. When I started off initially, I found myself holding back many times because it felt like I was giving too much of myself- when Modinat showed up to school with a serious fever and the nurse wasn't on seat, I didn't know when I left my class to look for help, when she wasn't getting better, and she continued to get really hot, I couldn't help my tears though I tried really hard to hide them. Everybody around kept asking if I was related to her but to me the reality was that these little lovely human beings were placed in my care, in other words, parents handed me a piece of their lives and future to safe guard so I knew better than to play around with such responsibilities, infact I knew I couldn't fail them.
